oohh la la look at that shine.

So i was in search for a good styling oil for my client  that would shorten the drying time of her hair, add shine and decrease frizz. I saw these products at a hair show but didnt think twice really about them because they arent really a wellknown brand. But after comparing all the products i decided on this.

Although its a little pricey Deepshine Oil is a marine mineral-enriched argan oil treatment that smoothes the cuticle, eliminates frizz, and improves elasticity and hydration, leaving hair soft, silky and manageable. This lightweight, alcohol-free formula imparts brilliant shine, while advanced marine therapy infuses the hair with superior condition, renewing the natural integrity of the hair. Used as a styling or finishing product, Deepshine® Oil helps seal the cuticle, prevent color fading with subsequent shampoos, and protect against damage caused by chemicals, excessive heat from thermal styling, and environmental factors.

Heal Repair Drops contain organic extracts like aloe, lavender, calendula and chamomile combined with argan oil for superior strength and shine. These are used as a treatment in a salon  under a hooded dryer for 10 minutes. For more intense conditioning benefits, combine with Heal Treatment before applying heat.
Heal Treatment includes glycerin which, when mixed with water, provides potent moisturization. Combined with argan, coconut and olive oils, the restorative benefits are matchless.

Keratin Smoothing Treatment is a deep-penetrating treatment formulated with natural keratin, vitamins and proteins to help improve the strength of the hair. Hydrating properties replenish moisture levels and instantly nourish dull, weak, hair. Revitalizing protein delivers surface-smoothing conditioning. Natural keratin moisturizes and restores youthful shine to hair.

Its rare that a product like this is paraben free, AND alcohol free and the ingredients are solely beneficial!  These products can only be purchased through a licensed cosmetologist. If you would like to get some from me, or get a conditioning treatment, let me know! Visit my website here

Sift confectioners sugar into a bowl. Whisk in zest and 2 tablespoons juice until smooth. If icing is too thick, add more juice, 1 teaspoon at a time. Dip top of each cupcake into icing, letting excess drip off. Garnish with sprinkles or toy spiders.

Bryan and I are throwing ourselves a little party for Halloween after Trick or Treating! We decided to play old scary movies with his projector and make halloween inspired treats :) fun right?

need a costume in a flash? heres a little help.

Need a costume in a flash? Here are a few quick ideas...
Flapper:
Its hard to do the correct technique of fingerwaves... Ive only mastered them from months at cosmetology school and even then couldnt do it on myself... so heres a little faux 20's fingerwave bob that comes close, and makeup to go with it!!

Hippie:
here is a video on a modern  hippie hairstyle. Or just part your hair in the middle, create a few messy loose waves, and add a headband!
Here's a few wardrobe tips.
1. Do have a flower. I know the song says "in your hair" but the truth is that it's hard to get the things to stay put.

2. No flower? Go for the Pocahontas headband.

3. Hair is long and "unkempt looking." (My mother's words) But it is clean. Yes, we washed our hair. Hey, deep down we were Baby Boomers from suburbia.

4. Women could wear a mini or even micro skirt provided she had decent legs. A chain belt was groovy. Boots or go-go boots were okay too.

5. Men - Jeans, the grungier the better. Leather vests were big too.

6. Fringe - for all. Vest, jackets, pants, shirts. Anything could be fringed.

7. Peace symbol. Every last one of us had at least one peace symbol.

Pin up Girl:
Here is some help with your pin up makeup and hairstyle. The pinup look is all about the height so wear high heels, thigh-high stockings and way-up-there garter, plus a form-fitting dress leopard, polka dot, red etc. While Goodwill and the Salvation Army are sure bets for second-hand dresses. As far as makeup goes, go for bright red lipstick, red nails, false eyelashes and dramatic cat eyes using black liquid eyeliner along your upper lid. For a sultry touch, add a beauty mark near your lips with a black eye pencil.

faker faker

I have never been one to care about brand names... i like quantity over quality and enjoy duplicating hollywood style with my own cheap versions. But this is something i think every girl should know... how to spot a fake.

There are  four different types of counterfeit products: vanity fakes, overruns, condoned copies, and self-made copies. Vanity counterfeits of low perceived quality are products that are obviously not real, thus are not big problems. In many third-world countries, some may state that it is a basic human right to make a living in any way to survive. Designers could argue that “counterfeiting deprives them of their legitimate economic rights to benefit from their work and will harm society in the long term” where as counterfeiters are simply serving a market of consumers that cannot afford to purchase the real items. If a buyer knows that the product is fake, no real harm is done. The only person being deceived is the person who assumes that a fake buyer’s bag is the real thing. Overruns are the least offensive counterfeits with high quality and same details of an original product. These goods are very easily sold in local markets because of their realistic appearance. Many out-workers of developing countries see making profit through overruns as a right especially because of exploitation of local resources. Several sweatshops are still in existence in the clothing industry and the workers barely earn enough to survive. The comparison of the massive profits made by retailers and fashion houses versus the low wages of clothing workers gives favor to those who make small profits off of left over material. Condoned copies are copies that are approved by designers because of the benefits from publicity as well as the fact that their designs are ones that are “desirable and worth copying.” Self copies are when fashion houses create copies themselves. Some designers even franchise their names to others. By selling “seconds” or “factory rejects” one gives “credence to poorer quality counterfeits as they proclaim to be legitimate factory rejects.” In conclusion, arguments could be made to defend rights of designers or to justify counterfeiting.

peach brown butter shortbread

peach brown butter shortbread
adapted from smitten kitchen
makes 9, 3″x3″ squares, this recipe can be easily doubled
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon  salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter
1 large egg
1-2 peaches, pitted and thinly sliced (between 1/8 and 1/4-inch thick)
** Please note there is 1/2 cooling period between the first and second step**
1
Brown your butter: Melt butter in a small/medium saucepan over medium-low heat. It will melt, then foam, then turn clear golden and finally start to turn brown and smell nutty. Stir frequently, scraping up any bits from the bottom as you do. Keep your eyes on it; it burns very quickly after it browns and the very second that you turn around to do something else. Set it in the freezer until solid (about 30 minutes).
2
Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Butter a 9×13 inch pan, or spray it with a nonstick spray.
3
In a medium bowl, stir together sugar, baking powder, flour, salt and spices with a whisk.
4
Use a pastry blender, fork or your fingertips, blend the solidified brown butter and egg into the flour mixture. It will be crumbly. Pat 3/4 of the crumbs into the bottom of the prepared pan, pressing firmly.
5
Tile peach slices over crumb base in a single layer. Scatter remaining crumbs evenly over peaches and bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, until top is slightly brown and you can see a little color around the edges. Cool completely in pan before cutting into squares.
This should for 3-4 days in the fridge.
